In the 50 to 65 year age group many men are interested in facial rejuvenation, especially getting rid of the sagging skin underneath their chin, but don’t want to have a “facelift” and the risk of having any visible scars around the ears. There is an option for men to have a deep neck lift which can tighten the muscles under the chin and redrape the skin of the neck and if necessary excite skin just inside the hair behind the ear. This gives just a small incision under the chin which is very well hidden. In fact most guys already have a scar there from childhood injuries.
It is possible to combine the “Scarless” Male Facelift with other procedures such as having eyelid reduction or a lift in the temple region as well. Some men benefit from filler injections into the face as well. This can be a very subtle way of getting improvement without needing long down time and scars around the ears. Facial fillers last around 18 months. For most men it is important not to look like you have had surgery. Although people may notice you don’t have the sagging neck skin, you don’t want to look ‘operated’.
The extent of surgery will vary from patient to patient. It is still reasonable to expect 2 weeks of downtime. This procedure is done under twilight sedation ( asleep but without a tube down your throat) in our Health Dept accredited on site facility – Academy Day Hospital. Don’t risk a procedure with unqualified surgeons or not being in an accredited hospital. Dr Oates has 20 years of facial plastic surgery experience, is a past president of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and has probably performed more facelifts than anyone else in Western Australia.
Your first step is an initial consultation with Dr Oates. If you have a GP referral you can claim some of the cost from Medicare. If Dr Oates decides you are a suitable candidate for Submental Liposculpture and you want to go ahead, a booking for surgery and the pre operative care is scheduled. The usual waiting time is three to four weeks.
You may wish to speak to our Nurse Consultant prior to seeing Dr Oates. During this complimentary consultation, both surgical and non surgical options can be discussed to treat your concern(s).
